Jessica Dennis Bush is an artist living Wheaton, Illinois. She lives with her husband and four children. From her studio she works with oil, wax and collage to explore concepts of process, place, memory.
Jessica graduated in 2006 from Taylor University with a BA in studio art and concentrations in painting and drawing.
Personalized commissions are a large part of her effort, along with shows and exhibitions. She enjoys collaborating with interior designers on paintings for installation. Her work can be found at the Addington Gallery in Chicago, IL and is represented by Soho Myriad Art Consulting Firm.
“Traces of a process can always be seen in the present form and its history can always be sensed. My paintings are an exploration of those traces. Past layers can be seen though openings and layers of wax; these openings evoke a consciousness of the past and give depth to the present.
Found objects are also embedded in the paintings between layers of paint and wax. These objects also offer small openings into the past, as they have their own story. While they recall the past their function is transformed; a found letter may be the first layer of a painting, a layer of wax becomes a window.”
